The Prism Learning Group, LLC (aka The PL(u)G)

Is an education consulting firm that partners with organizations to implement capacity-building, evaluation, and technical assistance activities that are aligned with the values of racial equity and culturally responsive practices, and that facilitate ongoing learning and action toward the transformation of individual commitments and organizational processes.

Highlighted Partners:

  • Let's Get Ready (LGR) provides students from low-income circumstances with free SAT preparation, admissions counseling and other support services needed to gain admission to and graduate from college. Services are provided by college students who also serve as role models and mentors.

    My role: Culturally Responsive Mentoring Learning Curator -- in partnership with Curriculum Director and Digital Training Manager, translating my work on Critical Consciousness in College Access and Success into an asynchoronous learning series for LGR's peer Coaches.

  • 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC) is a federally-funded program that supports the creation and growth of afterschool tutoring and enrichment programs serving students and families in marginalized communities.

    My role(s): Local Evaluator and Capacity-Building Lead -- observing and reporting on program implementation and effectiveness; collaborating with program personnel to identify growth opportunities; documenting progress toward annual goals; Providing professional development to broader staff on Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education Praxis (CR-SE)

  • KIPP Forward -- part of KIPP Public Charter Schools -- supports students to choose and prepare for the educational and career path that fits their goals and sense of purpose. 

    My role: Capacity-Building Consultant -- providing training for access and success counselors on aligning their work with Critical Consciousness

BLESS Collective

The BLESS Collective is a multi-institutional group of researchers and practitioners whose scholarship and community work centers Black joy and work toward:

• The liberation of Black students in education and throughout society
• Dissemination of liberatory insights

• Effectively supporting Black student educators,
BLESS is an acronym that stands for Black Liberation in Education, Schools, and Society.

Field-Based Work

At the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, I lead evaluations to improve educational outcomes through a racial equity lens.
